Four enterprises from Africa emerge as recipients of the Sankalp Africa Awards 2024.

 

Four exceptional African enterprises have been honored at the Sankalp Africa Awards 2024, held during the 11th Sankalp Africa Summit 2024. As Africa's premier summit dedicated to Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development Goals, it underscores the pivotal role of innovation and ideas in propelling the continent forward and shaping its economic landscape.

The journey of Sankalp Africa began 11 years ago and has since expanded with chapters in East Africa and West Africa, demonstrating how intricate social challenges can be effectively addressed through decisive action. By convening Changemakers for conversations, discussions, and collaborations, Sankalp Africa fosters an environment conducive to driving innovation, attracting investments, and generating meaningful impact.

Each year, Sankalp Africa showcases enterprises, and in 2024, it featured 11 promising finalist startups at the Sankalp Africa Awards. Notably, the Ecosystem Award Winner, Agrosahas International Private Ltd., hails from Uganda and empowers 10,000 Ugandan farmers through its tech-driven platform.

The 2nd Runner Up, MedTrack, a healthcare enterprise from Ghana, revolutionizes patient information accessibility by integrating it with national biometric IDs. The 1st Runner Up, Keep IT Cool, an Agri enterprise from Kenya, revolutionizes the cold chain logistics for smallholder fishermen and fish farmers in East Africa.

The coveted Winner of the 11th Sankalp Africa Awards is Toothpick Company, an Agri enterprise from Kenya. Led by Claire Baker, Toothpick Company focuses on reducing chemical pesticide use while enhancing safety, affordability, and effectiveness in agriculture. Originating from an innovation nurtured over 40 years, the enterprise not only enhances food security but also establishes itself as a prominent player in the global synthetic chemical weed management industry.

The 11th Sankalp Africa Summit 2023, hosted by Aavishkaar Group and Intellecap, is one of Africa's largest gatherings on impact entrepreneurship and sustainable development. Held on February 28-29 at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS) in Nairobi, the Summit has engaged over 1,500 stakeholders from 60+ countries in 35+ sessions featuring 200+ speakers, fostering discussions to propel Africa's potential forward in a just and sustainable manner.
