The prestigious awards ceremony is slated for April 22 in Madrid, Spain, where exceptional sports personalities from around the globe will be celebrated.

Kipyegon made history at the World Championships by becoming the first female athlete to clinch victories in both the 1,500 and 5,000 meters. Meanwhile, Richardson secured a gold medal in her inaugural world final, dominating the 100 meters from lane nine.

The Awards Ceremony is set to unfold at the Palacio de Cibeles, an architectural marvel crafted by the renowned partnership of Antonio Palacios and Joaquín Otamendi, making it one of Madrid’s iconic landmarks, as stated by Laureus.

Since its inception in 1999, the Laureus World Sports Awards have acknowledged outstanding athletes, teams, and individuals for their remarkable achievements in sports.

Last year's ceremony celebrated luminaries like Lionel Messi and Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who clinched the Sportswoman of the Year category.

This year's nominees for the Sportsman of the Year category include Lionel Messi, Novak Djokovic, Erling Haaland, Mondo Duplantis, Noah Lyles, and Max Verstappen.

Spain's women's football team, champions of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, has earned a nod in the prestigious Team of the Year category, alongside remarkable teams such as South Africa's Springboks, Manchester City, Germany's men's basketball team, the European Golf team Ryder Cup, and Austria's Red Bull Racing.

American gymnast Simone Biles is nominated for the Comeback of the Year category, alongside Canadian basketballer Jamal Murray, UK athlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson, South African rugby player Siya Kolisi, Ivory Coast footballer Sebastien Haller, and Czech Republic's tennis player Marketa Vondrousova.
