Empowering Tanzanian Mothers: Africahack Trip Visits Apps and Girls

Apps and Girls, a leading organization dedicated to promoting digital literacy and empowerment, recently welcomed a special visit from Africahack Trip, a German organization passionate about technology and innovation.

The visit coincided with a session hosted by Apps and Girls at the venue owned by Niwezeshe Lab, a hub for technological advancement and education in Tanzania. The focus of the session was on teaching Tanzanian mothers vital digital literacy skills—a crucial step towards bridging the digital divide in the country.

At the heart of this initiative lies the Teknomama program, which aims to empower women from various walks of life, including teachers, nurses, and stay-at-home mothers. Teknomama equips these women with essential computer skills, internet navigation techniques, and the ability to assist their children with educational tasks such as homework and research.

The visitation, which took place on October 17th, 2013, was led by esteemed trainers Wilhelm Caspar Oddo and Carolyne Ekyarisiima. This dynamic duo is widely recognized as a powerful tech couple within the country, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the session.

Apps and Girls is dedicated to ensuring that girls, young mothers, and women are not left behind as technology continues to advance. Through our commitment to empowering mothers with the skills they need to thrive in the digital age, we are laying the foundation for a brighter and more equitable future.
