The idea for Friday Night Code sprouted from Wilhelm's desire to celebrate his 26th birthday in a memorable and unconventional way. On April 2, 2013, a Tuesday, while discussing with his fiancée, who shares his passion for computer science, Wilhelm proposed the idea of inviting programmers he had been mentoring, along with others interested in coding, to join him in celebrating his birthday on a Friday night. This laid the foundation for what would become a regular gathering of like-minded individuals eager to expand their coding skills.
The programming languages explored during Friday Night Code sessions include PHP, JavaScript, Visual Basic 6.0, and VB.NET, offering participants a diverse range of tools to explore and master. Whether delving into backend development with PHP, crafting interactive web experiences with JavaScript, or building desktop applications with Visual Basic, there's something for every coder to sink their teeth into.
Reflecting on its journey, Friday Night Code has seen ten successful sessions to date, with each gathering building upon the last. Here's a glimpse of the dates when these coding marathons took place:
April: 5, 12, 19, 26
May: 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
June: 7
Whether you're a seasoned coder looking to hone your skills or a newcomer eager to dive into the world of programming, Friday Night Code welcomes you with open arms. Join us under the glow of computer screens as we embark on a nocturnal journey of discovery, creativity, and camaraderie. Together, let's make Friday nights the highlight of our coding calendar. See you there!
